Before you showed me any workout routines, you brought me in for an interview. There were the standard questions including those that covered birth date (age!), health issues, eating habits and my previous workout habits. All of the answers I gave you revolved around my being in excellent shape with the very best of daily living habits. What you did next not only surprised me, but it made me pause for a minute and ask myself ‘who does this personal trainer think she is?’
YOU TOOK MY BLOOD PRESSURE!!! What’s more- you looked me square in the eye, now conveying the message that you really know your stuff, that you are a professional and I had better listen up. You told me that my blood pressure was 140 over 100 and that it was high- too high too make you feel comfortable recommending any workout routine for me. Further, you told me that given my gender and age, you recommended that I consult with a physician. At that moment, my perception of you turned 180. You were the professional, you know your stuff and perhaps most important of all- you care. Caring is the most difficult skill set to acquire.
I visited my doctor the next week and he confirmed my blood pressure at 140 over 100. He prescribed blood pressure medication immediately. He wasn’t sure I should be working out either and ordered blood tests and a stress test with Thalium. I had the stress test last week and thank God, all is normal. Chesna, I cannot thank you enough for alerting me to my high blood pressure. You may have saved me from serious injury or worse. Your telling me not only highlighted your professional and compassionate sides, it showed me more than a trace of bravery as well. I would like to think that every trainer is as responsible as you but I doubt it though- you are special, very special actually.
Thank you Chesna. Our story is one that I will share with family, friends and colleagues for years to come.”
Enthusiastic, encouraging, positive, kind-hearted, professional, intellectual, expert, fit! These are all words to describe Chesna. I was fortunate to meet Chesna at the right time; as I finished several series of physical therapy and medications to treat a debilitating back injury. I was so impressed that she was willing to invest the time to meet me in my home for a free consultation. We reviewed the equipment that I owned, my concerns, abilities, goals, diet, medications, and doctor’s approval for working out. These were all things I’d want from a trainer, instead of being pushed through a process like cattle (no pun intended). In our sessions, Chesna constantly evaluates my progress and when ready moves me to my next hurdle. Transitions are comprehensive but do not take away from our valuable time. Also, Chesna really listens when I talk. I can’t name how many daily challenges she’s helped me to overcome by first truly listening and then taking action. My expectations have not only been met but surpassed.
I’ve known Chesna for about 2 years and have learned so much from her in regards to health and wellness, so I formally hired Chesna/Fit Esteem as my coach a few months ago. Wow, I’m so glad I made that decision and am so thrilled with the results so far. I’m asking myself, “Why didn’t I hire Fit Esteem sooner?”. Chesna really makes the process so challenging but fun.
I am also impressed that Chesna takes the time to ask about health concerns or conditions. That shows me that she cares and will develop a program to work with these concerns. I did share that I had lower back stiffness.
Chesna has helped me with nutrition, timing of meals, and stretching techniques to improve flexibility, range of motion, and balance. She also has helped with strength and cardiovascular training, improving my overall technique including proper breathing.
Since formally starting with Chesna through her company Fit Esteem, I have more energy, I feel better, stronger, more flexible, and my back stiffness is completely gone! This has truly been life-changing!
Hiring a health and wellness coach is a very personal decision. We want someone who does not judge, can meet us where we are in our health journey, but yet challenges us to improve our overall well-being using their knowledge and expertise, yet with patience and understanding. Chesna embodies all of these things and then some. She is truly the best in her industry and I am so thankful and grateful for her. Chesna cares about all her clients and is making a huge difference to them as well.
Words can’t express enough how thankful I am but I’ll write it anyway. Thank you Chesna for making a giant impact in my life.
It has been my privilege to get to know Chesna over the last couple of years. Descriptors that come to mind when I think of her are genuine, upbeat, focused, and transformative.
Chesna is the rare type of person who has a high level of emotional intelligence but is also a driver who makes things happen. She is someone with whom I instantly felt a rapport, and I believe she could get along with almost anyone and lead with kindness while motivating clients, team members, or employees to achieve superior outcomes.
Chesna has worked with diverse populations to help them reach physical, and health and nutrition goals as a skilled coach, trainer, and mentor. She is also a collaborator and has a knack for creative program and event planning.
One of the most compelling things about her is her heart for helping women, especially those who have dealt with fitness and body image struggles and with health issues. She is well-positioned based on her expertise, and decades of professional and personal experiences to aid women who deal with body image issues; are in perimenopause, menopause, or are post- or pre-surgical; or in other challenging phases of life.
I highly recommend working with Chesna. She brings everything she has to each session, and she offers what many coaches and trainers do not--real world experience and compassion, tailored to your unique situation.
After starting your program, I have much better TOOLS to use to keep moving forward! I know that many people will benefit from your approach and I am grateful to have been a part of this program. There is a need for FE – the world needs women who believe in a holistic approach to health/fitness – that the soul needs as much of a workout as the body.
Chesna is a gift. For several years, she has helped my teenage daughter with all aspects of her life from nutrition and fitness to self-esteem and even self-defense! She has a holistic approach that is both realistic and unique, and is beyond caring. In fact, my daughter trusts Chesna, confides in her, and looks to her as a role model. Chesna is so much more than a trainer. She is a life coach, and I suspect she will continue this role even after my daughter goes to college. Yay Chesna!
This program has helped me to teach my daughters discipline and consistency by example. Thank you Chesna for being so supportive and amazing.
Fit Esteem is a lifestyle, not just working out and losing weight; Those things can be temporary but a lifestyle change ensures their permanence.
Thank you Chesna for changing it up and keeping me challenged, motivated and wanting more! FE for life!!!
I have been working with Chesna for approximately eight months. She is extremely warm and upbeat as well as professional. My problem area has always been my waist and abdomen. This has been a difficult area for me to improve. I have seen amazing results! I am able to do more advanced exercises that I never thought were possible for me. The sessions are always varied and challenging. I am very happy with the results.
