Empowering Others
Dr. Guo, a Tai Chi master and medical anthropologist from the University of Tennessee, developed a seated version of the ancient Chinese martial arts form designed specifically for wheelchair-dependent individuals. Pictured: Although Dr. Guo does not need a wheelchair for mobility, he uses one to demonstrate his seated Tai Chi technique.
"Wheelchair Tai Ji Chuan not only gives the practitioner a sense of uplifting and empowerment, it also provides them with tremendous inspiration – the wheelchair is no longer seen as a sign of disability, but as a tool for creating beauty and power." Zibin Guo
